Dental Assistant

This is not your ordinary, everyday dental assistant's job. Instead, our dental assistants work out of a 40-foot-long, state-of-the-art mobile dental unit and help keep kids across the state of South Dakota smiling. This position offers the opportunity to work with a dedicated team of professionals to improve the oral and general health of children and a limited adult population. The Dental Assistant must be able to adjust accordingly to a right handed or left handed dentist and be willing to work with different dentists throughout the year. Communicating effectively with people individually, as well as in small and large groups is important.

Duties and Responsibilities may include:
Program Equipment-
Maintaining and prepare the operatory room and instruments for patients
Assisting with preparing the mobile units for transport and operation
Stocking supplies in the mobile units every week
Assist with ordering, cataloging, and keeping an inventory of supplies and equipment

Patient Treatment -
Taking digital x-rays
Providing patient care in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local rules, regulations, protocols, and procedures regarding the provision of clinical dental care
Disinfecting and sterilize the instruments after seeing each patient
Performing duties/tasks as assigned by the mobile coordinator to best meet the needs of the patients
Records Management
Complete thorough and accurate dental charting on each patient
Enter patients' personal data in to the computer
Recording patient health histories
Infection Control
Participate in appropriate health promotion/disease prevention activities both on-site and off-site as required
Follow OSHA standards/OSAP

Travel is required across the state during the work week. Working hours will vary.
Continuing education classes will be required to keep dental assistant certification current.
Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, radiation
and other conditions common to a clinical environment may routinely be encountered.
Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate, though not constant, physical effort: combination of
climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing
and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight.

Experience and
Qualifications:
Must have graduated from an accredited dental assisting education program, or have at least five years of experience working in the dental assisting field.
Must be certified in Radiography.
Must be CPR certified or willing to obtain certification within the first 90 days of employment.
Must possess a valid South Dakota driver's license.
Must be current on all vaccinations (including Hepatitis B).
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
